Basic Guidelines

  • Shoe sizes vary due to different brands, so don't match your daily shoe size with your climbing shoe size. Measure the net length of your bare feet based on your larger foot.
  • Climbing shoes are special shoes designed for climbing. Don't choose them based on the feeling of wearing sports shoes.
  • The correct fit for beginner climbers is to have the shoe completely cover their foot, with no extra space between the toes and heel.
  • Experienced climbers should keep their toes curled up inside the shoe.
  • It's normal to feel some pain on your toes when wearing climbing shoes for the first time. The shoes will become more comfortable after 2 - 3 uses.
  • When climbing or resting, you can loosen the laces or remove the shoes to reduce pressure and prevent foot odor.
  • Even after many uses, EVOLV climbing shoes only show minor loosening (2 - 3 mm), so there's no need to buy a size smaller intentionally.
  • For beginners, it's not recommended to buy high-end performance models. Wait till skills to improve before investing in even higher-end models.
  • Wide-fits are for thick sole and high insteps, while narrow-fits are for thinner sole and low insteps.

Daily maintenance of climbing shoes

  • Climbing shoe soles are not suitable for everyday use, so minimize wear on the rubber.
  • Don't expose climbing shoes to high temperatures, as heat can affect the shoe's shape and rubber hardness.
  • Avoid using chemical solvents like alcohol or stain remover oil to clean climbing shoes.
  • After wearing climbing shoes, store them in a ventilated area to prevent odor and mold growth.
  • Store climbing shoes in a cool, dry place for long-term storage.
  • Avoid using a hair dryer or similar method to dry shoes. Let them dry naturally in a ventilated, shaded area after cleaning.
